Power to you

When I left in September 2003 to live and work in Jordan, a colleague of mine sent me a card. On the card it said in Dutch

"I decided that I have the power to do anything and everything"

Interestingly enough I found this card again when I returned to the Netherlands last year. As I left a country that, for me, is the prime example of the attitude that you can make anything happen, and returned to a country where we have an expression that says "Just act normal, then you act crazy enough", I appreciated that inspirational note.

Now it lies on my coffee table so I can see it every day and be reminded. It was only until last week though that I really decided that I have the power to do anything and everything.

I decided that instead of looking for the (perfect) organization and boss that give me the freedom to take initiative and implement any (crazy) idea I have (and hence make myself dependent on others to be happy in my job), I will just start implementing those ideas myself and be my own social entrepreneur. I am sure I will meet lots of challenges but I am ready for it and for dreaming big!

Whether it is in your family life, your work, your free time activities, whether it is the US, the Netherlands, Egypt, Tunesia or anywhere else, I truly believe that you can "decide" you have the power to do anything (good) and thus make everything possible.

Have a great week!
Rose
